In this episode I welcome Josh Wertz from Good Woods Lumber LLC on the show to talk about his sawmill operation. We spend a good amount of time talking about his vacuum kilns and get into details on the perceived vs real stability gained from a low heat drying process.

Good Woods Lumber is a full service sawmill operation sawing and drying logs for you but also sawing logs reclaimed from urban areas felled by arborists and tree removal companies.  Good Woods has a retail showroom where you can buy dimensional lumber and slabs but also now carries exotic species as well.  What's interesting is Josh has partnered with a lumber importer to bring into the country less common exotics.  These are species that are often logged as a by product to the primary commercial species.  Often the market locally doesn't know about these secondary and tertiary species but they are just as useful as the species we all know.  This is an essential part of the exotic forestry since these less popular species are also part of a healthy concession management plan.
