Vacuum Kilns Aren't Plug and Play
Today I welcome Niles Krech of Maine Urban Timber Co on the show to talk about his business. From building a bandsaw mill to learning the ropes of a vacuum kiln, Niles has done a lot in the last year and it is exciting to hear about how his business is developing and what the future may hold.
We talk about how Niles and his partner built their special Cremona brand bandsaw a little smaller than the plans called for only to have the very first log they got be too big for it. We talk about his iDry Vacuum Kiln and learning what not to do when working with that. For those interested in vacuum kilns this is a good episode filled with some hard won tips that Niles and his partner has come up with in the past year.
