This week I delve into the effect of COVID on the Hardwood sector and specifically how shipping and logistics delays are causing the biggest disruptions. Then I answer some of your questions about CITES, color fast finishes, and a few odd plywood things.

Good morning,
I work as a manager at Inside sales for a canadian Hardwood prefinished flooring manufacturer (i’m also a hobbyist). We have our own sawmill, 16 kilns, etc. We obviously buy lumber at at other sawmills to cover our demand and we’ve seen a BIG slow down in supply of what’s out there to buy (as described in this podcast). It’s a slow down of supply and quality of what available.
I’ve shared the podcast with all of our outside sales people (14 total) to allow them to share with their client. We’ve all been hit by delays but sometimes its easier for someone from outside our company (or immediate industry) to help prove our point.
Many of the ouside sales people have commented that they will be sharing that with their biggest clients to manage expectations (which is a big part of sales).
Keep up the good work, I listen both Wood Talk and Lumber Update religiously
Thank you for ”unquitting”.
