Iroko Lumber is its own thing
Yes Iroko is known as African Teak across many markets. Yes it has a similar color (sometimes) but I think Iroko is its own thing and doesn't need that market bump by calling it "Teak". Personally I've been using the species for many years and actually at the time of this recording I'm using it on a piece of furniture. Its one to add to your quiver of species that doesn't have to break the bank while still giving you a tropical wood look to any project.

Featured Species: Iroko
Milicia excelsa or Iroko is an enormous African tree. It can produce boards in excess of 60" wide and 12 - 20 feet long. Its color can be confused with Teak as a golden, honey brown. But you can also just as readily find a darker caramel brown color.
I find it a pleasure to work with due to its lower hardness which ameliorates any difficult, interlocked grain so common in African species. The wood can be polished to a high luster despite its large pores.
