Giving New Life to Austin’s Fallen Trees

Kris Burns joins me this episode to talk about the local tree scene in Austin, TX.  We discuss how they have partnered with the city for a log pickup to obtain much of their lumber as they got started.  Now they partner with tree companies to maintain a strong inventory of logs for sawing.  They has a nice retail showroom with a great selection of TX lumber from Elm to Cottonwood to the infamous Tree of Heaven.  Check them out and go buy from sweet Texas lumber.

The Paulownia is a tree I have a lot of experience with.  Working both straight from the log to kiln dried, lumber bought from a yard.  Its a pleasant change of pace from the other brown-ish hued species with easy workability and incredible strength to weight ratio.  Also a very stable species.  Definitely check it out and add it to your repertoire.
