The Pilot Episode

04.08.2019 by shannon // 13 Comments

Consider this the mission statement episode. It’s simple: to educate about lumber and all the wonderfulness that comes with it. But also to say thank you to everyone who encouraged me (AKA badgered) to start this show. It was really an accident that it happened on WoodTalk in the first place so its a miracle to think that it has become its very own show now.

Please let me know if you have any questions for featured topics you want me to cover in future shows by using the contact form on this site or by emailing your voice memos to me. Address is in the show (gotta avoid all those pesky bots by not posting it here)

Thanks for listening to the first episode of this 8/4, kiln dried podcast.

Wow, this is really a thing! Looking forward to listening and counting how many times the word “CITES” is mentioned per podcast. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Kidding! I’ve always enjoyed Shannon’s witty humor as a big fan of Wood Talk over the years. Wait…did he say kiln dried podcast? Oh, no. Now I’m not sure about this as I’m more of an air dried type of guy!

Congrats on the Pilot Episode, Shannon. Sorry in advance for what may be a dumb question. I seem not to be as technically proficient in technology as I’ve been in younger years. I use the iTunes app to download my podcasts for my daily commute. You’re not there (yet). Do I have to stream SoundCloud from a browser? I hate using data when downloading is available.

    Thanks, and continued success.

Still waiting on Apple to approve the show. Not sure how much longer it will be, but barring anything really weird it will be there. You can use a SoundCloud app or any number of podcatching apps on the market and just hook the RSS address (in the sidebar) to that app, but I wouldn’t change anything when your existing method will be available hopefully very soon.

Friend, you have done such a good job at loosing all that weight but you definitely need some new shirts. That cover photo shirt looks huge. Btw love the podcast.

Loving it so far, as to your point that you have often been surprised about things you think of being obvious or common knowledge being completely foreign to people, I think your call for questions is a good idea but I think a guest host occasionally will give you that real time feedback that will reveal questions about the things you talk about that might seem obvious to you, which will encourage further elaboration.

That’s the plan. Certainly your point is valid but I also want different perspectives from within the industry as there is just no way I can represent the entire industry and the myriad of things that come up.
